Archangelos Michael Church

Archangelos Michael Church is one of the painted churches of the Troodos Mountains. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.

About this building

The church was built in 1474 and decorated shortly afterwards by the local painter Minas. As many other painted churches in the Troodos  region, it is a single-nave church with a pitched timber roof. The interior is decorated with post-Byzantine frescoes that developed in Cyprus just before the Venetian rule.
