The Ebstorf Monastery was supposedly built in the second half of the 12th century. The monastery complex consists of a provostry, a long sleeping house, abbess wing, east wing, a cloister and a church built at the end of the 14th century. In the south and west cloisters late medieval stained-glass windows have been preserved. There is also a monastery garden, which is enclosed by a wall, the oldest part of which is about 800 years old.

The monastery of Eldena was founded around 1200 as a daughter house of the Danish monastery Esrom and supported by the prince of Rügen Jaromar. The oldest parts of the former monastery church date back to the beginning of the 13th century. The buildings were looted during the Thirty Years' War, fell into ruins and were used as a quarry. Their preservation only began in the 19th century.

Emmaus Monastery was founded in 1347 by the Czech king and Roman emperor Charles IV (1346-1378). It was destined to become the only Benedictine monastery in the Bohemian kingdom and in the whole of Slavic Europe. During World War II, the monastery was captured by the Gestapo and the monks were sent to the Dachau concentration camp. In February 1945, it was almost destroyed by the American bombing of Prague. The modern roof with its bell towers was added in 1960. The Gothic cloister has original faded frescoes with fragments of pagan symbolism from the 14th century.

The convent of the Jacobins of Toulouse is composed of a church (Church of the Jacobins), a cloister, a chapter house, a refectory and a chapel (Chapelle Saint-Antonin). It was built by the Order of Friars Preachers in 1230 to counter the influence of the Cathar heresy. These buildings entirely in brick are considered a perfect example of Languedoc Gothic art. In these buildings, was established the old University of Toulouse (1229-1793) until its suppression to the French Revolution.

The former Dominican monastery of Prenzlau was founded in the 13th century and in 1308 it was already considered one of the richest Dominican monasteries in the Marche. In 1519, the monastery was damaged by fire, and a few decades later it was secularised. Since 1930, the monastery has been used as a museum.

The Monastery of Leça do Balio, which houses the fortified church of Santa Maria de Leça do Balio, was probably founded in the 10th century at the border of the Asturian Kingdom in the context of the Reconquista. In possession of the Order of Malta from the 12th century, the monastery received further enlargements and renovations that gave it defensive features in Romanesque style, the most striking element of which was the construction of the 28 meters high tower provided at the top with machicolations and arrowslits.
