The mosque Čaršija was probably founded by a certain Junuz-čauš, and dates back to the 16th century. The mosque was completely renovated in 1922 when the stone floor was replaced by a wooden floor and the roof was covered again with sheet metal. During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992-1995), the mosque was hit several times by artillery shells. The roof structure and the walls of the building were damaged, and the minaret was hit several times by direct fire. Later, the upper part of the minaret and the sherefe (drum) were rebuilt, the building was plastered and painted, and covered.

The first mosque in Minsk was constructed between 1900 and 1902 to accommodate the local Muslim population. In the 1960s, the mosque was destroyed by Soviet authorities. In 2016 a replica of the original mosque was reconstructed.

Church of Theotokos Kyriotissa is a former Eastern Orthodox church in Istanbul, converted into a mosque by the Ottomans -Kalenderhane Mosque. With high probability the church was originally dedicated to the Theotokos Kyriotissa. This building represents one among the few extant examples of a Byzantine church with domed Greek cross plan.

Originally built around the 1300s as a Catholic church, it was turned into a mosque after the fall of Shkodra in 1479. Until 2017, for 12 consecutive years the parish of St. Stephen's Cathedral held Mass in celebration of the patron saint of the city which was seen by the Mufti of Shkodra as infringement to the inter-religious harmony and tolerance.

The Clock Mosque, or Mosque of Abdurrahman Pasha, dates from 1656 but was rebuilt in 1822-23 after a fire. It was also rebuilt in 1992 after its minaret and dome were destroyed by the communist regime in Hoxha.

The Cologne Central Mosque was built between 2009 and 2017 after the design of architects Gottfried and Paul Böhm. The mosque, meant for the Turkish Muslim community of Cologne, has a contemporary yet recognisable Ottoman dome, whose transparency invites guests in its interior.
