Zuidwolde Church

This is one of the oldest churches in the province. The visible Romanesque features are in the tower: niches of different sizes. Little is visible in the vessel, among other things, due to the large arched windows and plastering.

About this building

In the 19th century, traffic along the Boterdiep intensified, which meant that the draft had to be widened. Unfortunately, the church and especially the side of the choir got in the way. And so the choir has removed.

Since then, the church has remained unchanged, at an extremely quiet Boterdiep. The church is extensively used during the weekend. Often there are concerts on Saturday evening. You can attend the service on Sundays. Furthermore, it is an atmospheric wedding location and funerals take place.

Klooster Church

The beautiful and intriguing remnants of what was once a double monastery dedicated to Holy Felicitas can still be seen, in the remaining hall church with a semi-circular choir. From the foundation in the 13th century the church was used by the brothers and sisters of the Benedictine monastery Germania.
