Katwijk aan Zee, NL
From 1903 onwards, several brothers met in the winter to study the Bible. In the summer of 1905, these brothers and a sister started studying the Bible together on Sundays in a living room in Katwijk. Early in 1906, they started celebrating the Lord's Supper on Sunday mornings (breaking the bread and drinking the wine). During this time, the brothers and sisters from Katwijk came into contact with brothers and sisters from the surrounding area (including from Bodegraven, Zwammerdam, Leiden and The Hague). Together they came to the conclusion that they wanted to be baptized. They were then baptized in the Uitwatering. Because more brothers and sisters were present at the meetings, the services were moved to the smousenbakkerij (on the corner of Stationsstraat and Voorstraat in Katwijk). In this room, several brothers held Bible readings. The Lord blessed this richly.

After the general reunification in 1854, the Jan Jacobskerk was demolished the following year. This church dated from 1650. The church of the Foppe Onesvolk had already suffered a similar fate in 1804-1805. In Nes, there were three Mennonite congregations until 1804!
