The Church of St. Nicholas is a Gothic church built in the second half of the 13th century. In 1760, a rectangular western tower with a baroque portal was completed. There is a church garden around the church, where there are several objects recognised as cultural monuments.

The Church of St. Nicholas is an Orthodox church and a monument of Belarusian vernacular architecture. The first mention of the church dates back to 1682, but in 1738, on the occasion of a fire, a new, medium-sized, wooden building without a dome, with an iron cross on the roof, was erected. After another fire, the church had to be rebuilt in 1771. In 1839 the church, which was then a Uniate (Greek Catholic) church, was converted to Orthodoxy.

The Church of St. Nicholas is a splendid example of late Czech Gothic. It was built after a fire on 25 March 1517 on the site of the original church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross from the mid-13th century by the royal architect Benedikt Rejt. The church was completed in 1538.

The Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas was built of wood in 1835. The oldest known Belarusian icon representing the "Nativity of the Mother of God" (16th century) comes from this church. The icon is now in the Belarusian National Arts Museum.

The Church of St. Nicholas, or simply Middelfart Church, is a Gothic basilica, originally Romanesque. The present building includes a Romanesque choir from the second half of the 13th century, a sacristy, tower and choir arm (now a mortuary chapel) dating from 1480-1520 and a slightly more recent basilica nave dating from 1524. In 1667 a porch was added on the south side of the church.

The Protestant Church of St. Nicholas was built between 1864 and 1866 in the neo-Romanesque style by the architect Friedrich August Stüler on behalf of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV (1840-1861). It replaced a previous one, which had stood there since 1796, on the site of the Baroque church destroyed in the great city fire (1788) and donated by the electress Louise Henriette d'Orange. After being destroyed during the Second World War, the church was rebuilt in its present form in 1952.
