Around 1865, the congregation in Rilland was instituted. After meeting in homes and farms for many years, the congregation acquired its own building in 1875. It was a former school building on the corner of Adriaan Butijnweg and Valckenisseweg. After the congregation grew and no expansion was possible, a piece of land was purchased in 1889 at Zandbaan (the current Swaanhilstraat) to build a new church building there. In 1928, the church building was expanded with a consistory room. In 1952, a gallery was added to the church building. In 1957, the front facade of the church building was renovated.
