Sanctuary of Christ the King

The Sanctuary of Christ the King is located at the foot of the Christ King monument that overlooks the city of Lisbon from Almada, Portugal. It is know in Portuguese as Capela dos Confidentes de Jesus.

About this building

The construction of the Sanctuary and monument of Christ the King started in 1940, inspired by the world-wide famous Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The monument is 110 m high, 15 m of which belong to the statue of the Christ.

The sanctuary includes a rectory, a chapel, administration and meeting halls and exhibition galleries.
