Seventh-day Adventist Church. Modern church without tower. Shared use on Sundays by the Assembly of Believers.

This 14th-century cathedral was built on the site of a former 12th-century Romanesque church and an even older chapel. It was the site of where the reformation began in Hanover. The church was destroyed in an air-raid during the Second World War, leaving only the tower and some walls. Today it stands as a war memorial, featuring a sculpture, dedicated in 1959 and a peace bell donated from Hanover's sister city, Hiroshima, Japan.

The Aegidiuskerk (Aegidius Church) in the village of Abbenbroek is a historic church dating from the 13th century. It is listed as a National Monument of the Netherlands.

The church, built in 1968, is located in the eastern part of the original village settlement. Today it is in a poor condition. The building is empty and all doors and windows are missing.

The newer Ag. Artemios Church, built in 1868, is located in the eastern part of the old settlement centre.

The older Ag. Artemios church is located to the west of the village centre, in the so-called Ornithi area. the church is in a very good condition. It was restored the in 2019. An inspection of the interior was not possible because at the day of visit the doors were locked and there was no sign if it possible to obtain a key.

The Monastery of Christ the Savior, simply known as Afendis Christos (Lord Christ) is former monastery of which only the catholicon is preserved. The church is dedicated to the Transfiguration.

The present Åfjord church was built between 1877 and 1879 and is the third church built on this site. The first church was built after the Reformation, and was dedicated to John the Baptist. It burned down due to lightning in 1766.
