Situated prominently in the heart of the village, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. St Mary's is the only church actually on the course of Hadrian's Wall. Originally constructed in the late 13th century using stone from Hadrian's wall it is built on the top of a Norman 'Motte and Bailey' and on the site of a Roman milecastle.

A church at Wilsford is mentioned in Domesday Book, but the building dates to the 11th - 15th centuries, with a restoration in 1860 by Kirk and Parry.

The construction of Sisland church possibly started soon after the Norman Conquest, although very little of this early building now remains. Seen from the lane it is a thatched brick building, whitewashed except for where the windows and doors are picked out in red brick. There are heavy buttresses, which seem quite unnecessary, and a wooden bell tower rises at the east end.

St Mary The Virgin was built in 1762 on the site of a medieval place of worship and pilgrimage. Two headstones by Eric Gill can be found in the churchyard.

This beautiful church has been hallowed by prayers of the faithful for nearly 700 years. It has many historic, beautiful and interesting features to discover. The name 'Oteri Sancte Marie' is first mentioned in 1242. The town takes its name from the River Otter and the fact that the town belonged to Rouen Cathedral. With its glorious church and picturesque buildings, Ottery St Mary has given inspiration to Coleridge, Thackeray and JK Rowling.

"Few churches in South Yorkshire contain more that may delay and interest the curious inquirer than this country chapel." So the great historian Joseph Hunter wrote of St Mary's Worsbrough in 1831. Is it true? Come and see for yourself.

Explore the countryside of north Doncaster and you will discover the village of Kirk Bramwith. Set alongside the River Dun navigation floodplain the tiny church of St Mary is a lovely place to visit.

The Roman Catholic Church sought to tackle Manchester's deepest troubled area which lay between Deansgate and Albert Square. A church was built in 1794 in Mulberry Street on a site crowded in by intensive poor quality housing on land which had so recently been open meadow and grazing pasture.

Remains from the church's early life and history can be seen on the west wall just inside the church. There are fragments from a Saxon cross, an ancient gravestone with scissor markings, as well as remains from a Norman arch and some ancient stained glass from the medieval church.
