Dating back to the Middle Ages, the church got its current form from in the 14th and 15th century. The vaults of the church are of a type that was common before the 15th century. Inside the church walls are decorated with murals in the style of the so-called Strängnäs School, which was particularly popular in neighbouring Södermanland.

In place of the original church built in the 13th century, the present building was erected a century later. The economic prosperity of Bistriţa at that time favoured the construction of a basilica with three naves, polygonal choir and two towers on both sides of the main entrance. The importance of the church for the community can be observed in the successive stages of reconstruction that followed: rebuilding in the shape of a Gothic basilica with the naves separated by octagonal pillars and transformation to a Gothic hall with a surrounding wall and a watch and defence tower for the city. Initially self-standing, the new tower, built in several stages, was included in the body of the church in 1487 and is the highest medieval church tower in the country. Today the church is a worthy representative of the architectural transition from Gothic to Renaissance. The tower, which was heavily damaged by a fire in 2008 was repaired and tourist may today ascend the 75m high tower by elevator in order to admire the panorama of Bistriţa.

The cathedral of Bitonto is an Apulian Romanesque church built between the 11th and 12th centuries. It has acquired its cathedral status in 1986. The church was modeled after the Basilica of San Nicola di Bari.

Bitonto Cathedral, since 1986 strictly speaking a co-cathedral, was built in the centre of the city between the 11th and 12th centuries. The building, in the Pugliese Romanesque style on the model of the Basilica of St. Nicholas of Bari, is considered to be the most complete and mature expression of Pugliese Romanesque art, in particular, because of its richly carved portal and rose windows.

Unusually built with expensive materials and decorated with rich ornaments, the interior of the church contains two separate sets of medieval murals. Decorating the apse is a set of vivid Romanesque paintings, influenced by French art and made in the early 13th century but somewhat harshly restored in the 19th century.

Bjarkøy Church is a wooden cross church built on Sandsøya Island in 1765. In 1885-1886 the church was dismantled and moved to the island of Bjarkøya, where it was restored.

The Bjelland church is a church dating from 1793. The present church is the third in the town, the first dating from the Middle Ages, the second from the 17th century. Inside, the walls are decorated with Rosemåling (a traditional form of decorative folk art from Norway), created by Gutorm Persson Eftestøl (1779-1856) in collaboration with the painter Knud Knudsen Årstøl.

Bjelovar Cathedral was built between 1765 and 1775 and is named after St. Theresa of Avila, patron saint of the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa, who founded Bjelovar in 1756. An earthquake in 1880 damaged the church and the parish court. The church was restored by the architect Hermann Bolle in 1888, and in 1896 the church was completely restored from the inside. The church did not become a cathedral until 2009.

The church of Bjerkreim is a long church dating from 1835. The church building was built according to the design of Hans Ditlev Franciscus von Linstow.

The church in Bjerkvik is a long concrete and brick church whose construction began in 1952 and was consecrated on 14 August 1955. The architects of the church were Arnstein Arneberg and Per Solemslie. The previous church in Bjerkvik was lost in the night of 12-13 May 1940, when Bjerkvik was burnt down by the allied fleet.
