Triumfatorkerk

Katwijk aan Zee, NL

The church building was built in 1964 by the Reformed Church, as the second church building in the predominantly Reformed Katwijk aan Zee. Due to declining church attendance, the Reformed Church sold the building to the Restored Reformed Church in 2011. A Reformed farewell service took place on 28 April 2013. After a thorough renovation and expansion, the Restored Reformed Church took the building into use in September 2015. During the renovation in 2013-2014, the entire inventory and finishing of the interior of the church was also renewed, with the exception of the organ (Verschueren, 1965) which was relocated. The church hall contains, among other things, new wooden benches, a new pulpit with sounding board and a new baptismal font. Large modern chandeliers hang in the church hall.

The church was used as a landmark when sailing on the Skagerrak and was an easily recognisable feature in the tone of land that sailors saw from the sea. It is marked on all nautical charts, and until 1940 the state lighthouse and the marker were responsible for painting the walls of the church to the south.
