The small reclamation village of Kopstukken, southeast of Stadskanaal, originated in the nineteenth century. Mainly Roman Catholic peat workers from Germany settled there. Initially, they attended church in surrounding villages such as Musselkanaal. After the Second World War, the village got its own parish and in 1949 an emergency church was built. This emergency church was demolished in 1962 to make way for the new construction of the current modern church designed by JAA Dresmé.

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes is a Roman Catholic parish church in the neighbourhood of Wittevrouwenveld. It was designed by famous architect Frits Peutz in 1938. It is listed as a National Monument of the Netherlands.

Was first a Roman Catholic chapel, neo-Gothic with tower, became a church in 1951, expanded in 1958. The history goes back to 1900 when a wooden cross was placed on this spot. In 1916, local residents built a devotional chapel in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes. On September 24, 1944, a Franciscan from Weert celebrated the first Holy Mass. In 1957, the chapel was restored and expanded. Interesting complex of large chapel and monastery.

Exceptionally important, iconic interbellum church, with dome and large tower (54 m); currently the second highest church tower in Bergen op Zoom. The highest church tower is the Peperbus of the historic St. Gertrudiskerk, 56 m.

Large church with tower, built as the Rectory Church of the Passionist Fathers. It was not until 1981 that this became a parish church of the newly established parish of Molenhoek. Architect Joseph Franssen, son of the more famous Caspar Franssen. This church is listed as a Municipal Monument of the Netherlands.
