The Årdal church, completed in 1867, was built in wood panelling according to drawings by Chr. Christie. The church has the shape of a basilica with a central raised hall and is characterised by neo-gothic forms and inspiration from Stave churches.

The church was built between 1914 and 1916 with funds collected from Årdal residents who had emigrated to the USA. The ministry had previously rejected an application to build a new church, nor had it approved the fact that the church was in use at the time of its completion. Approval did not come until 1919. Major restoration in 1968.

The Agios Dimitrios Chapel is located approx. 1.3 kilometre north of the village on the road to the Pentadaktylos mountains. The building itself is in a fair condition. But all doors and windows as well as the bell were removed. The interior is empty and in a poor condition.

During the time of visit in 2022 the church was under renovation.

Ardboe Monastery is an ancient monastery founded in 590 by Saint Colman. In the 16th century, the old church built by St. Colman gave way to the present church (in ruins). The entire monastery was destroyed by fire in the 20th century. One of the main remains of the former monastery is the High Cross, the first one built in Ulster. There are a total of twenty-two panels of Old and New Testament scenes on all four sides of the cross.

The Ardenica Monastery was erected by the Byzantine Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos in 1282 in honour of his victory over the Kingdom of Sicily during the siege of Berat. Closed and in a state of ruin in 1967, the monastery was saved thanks to its reputation as the wedding venue of Skanderbeg (1443 - 1468), Albanian national hero. The monastery has been rebuilt since 1988.

Located in the central part of the city, the 15th-century mosque was renovated in the 19th century.

The oldest part of the church dates back to 1200. The interior of the church was heavily remodelled in a Neo-Medieval style between 1900–1902 after plans by architect and artist Axel Haig. The furnishings of the church are still largely medieval: an altarpiece from the early 14th century, a triumphal cross and baptismal font, both from the middle of the 13th century.

The Old Church of Åre was built in the mid to late 12th century. A major extension took place in the mid-17th century, and a number of renovations during the 20th century have made the church the only preserved medieval stone church in the Swedish part of the Scandinavian mountains.

This Jewish Cemetery has about fifty tombstones, some of which are damaged. Several tombstones from the 1950s-60s are individually fenced.
