The cathedral of Évora was built between 1186 and 1250 and mixes Romanesque and Gothic architecture. However, plateresque elements were added in the 15th and 16th centuries (choir, pulpit, baptistery...), as well as some baroque elements (carved altarpieces). It is said that the flags of Vasco de Gama's fleet were blessed here in 1497.

The Cathedral of Gozo was built in local limestone between 1697 and 1711 according to the plans of the architect Lorenzo Gafa (1630-1704) on the ruins of an old church devastated by the earthquake of 1693. The Cathedral Church of Gozo is representative of Lorenzo Gafa's Maltese Baroque strongly inspired by Jesuit art or the early Baroque of Giacomo della Porta as expressed in the Church of the Gesù in Rome.

The Cathedral of Grosseto was built between 1294 and 1302 by the Sienese architect Sozzo di Rustichino, on an old parish church. The cathedral was rebuilt in Renaissance and Baroque style and was finally remodelled in neo-Medieval style between 1840 and 1865. The façade of the building dates from this last remodelling.

The Cathedral of Innsbruck was first mentioned in 1180, but the church dating from this period was destroyed by an earthquake in 1689. Between 1717 and 1724, a new building was constructed in the Baroque style according to the plans of Johann Jakob Herkomer and Johann Georg Fischer. In 1944, the church was damaged by Allied bombing. In 1964, the diocese of Innsbruck was established, raising the parish church to the status of a cathedral.

The cathedral is a mixture of Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical architecture. It was not elevated to the status of a cathedral until 1980.

The cathedral was built in 2002 at the request of the Bishop of the Diocese Cristoforo Palmieri and was inaugurated the same year. It is the main Catholic building in the region after the Abbey of St. Alexander of Orosh.
